This opera production of Don Quichotte by Jules Massenet was presented at Wexford Festival Opera in Ireland in 2019, coproduced with the National Opera.
Takis served as Performance Designer for this production, creating costume design and set design that brought Cervantes’ iconic knight-errant to operatic life. Working with director Rodula Gaitanou and conductor Timothy Myers, the design balanced the story’s comic elements with its underlying pathos and nobility. Lighting design by Simon Corder complemented the production’s visual storytelling.
Wexford Festival Opera is internationally renowned for championing rare and lesser-known operatic works alongside reimagined classics. This production of Massenet’s late masterwork demonstrated takis’s ability to design for the intimate scale of Wexford’s theatre while creating visually expansive worlds.
