This circus production of The Hooley was presented by Giffords Circus on tour throughout the UK in 2021, celebrating Irish culture and performance traditions.
Takis served as Performance Designer, creating costume design and set design for this Celtic-themed spectacular. Working with director Cal McCrystal and choreographer Colin Lang, the design combined traditional Irish visual elements with contemporary circus aesthetics, creating a vibrant celebration of Irish heritage. The lighting design by Ian Scott complemented the theatrical atmosphere.
The production featured an international ensemble including Tweedy the Clown, Nancy Trotter Landry, and live music from The Joyce Country Ceilidh Band, alongside champion equestrian performers and acrobats. This production demonstrated takis’s versatility in designing for circus performance, balancing the intimate scale of tent performance with bold theatrical vision.
